2005 Newsletter

What a season we had at camp this year! The weatherman cooperated and provided warm sunny days, which made for some great fishing and some excellent camp fish fries with many of our old friends. As many of you have discovered we have some excellent Small Mouth Bass and Northern Pike fishing to go along with our trophy size Lake Trout and Speckle Trout.

Many of our guests that came to us as bear hunters have been returning during the summers with their families and enjoying the great ATV trails in our area, and of course doing a little fishing as well.

The fall bear hunt was much smaller this year, but what an incredible hunt we had. We started baiting near the end of June and the bears were right there, by the time the hunt started in August every bait we had going was seeing action.

Ritchie Falls Resort had just over 50 hunters total for the hunt. The hunters saw a total of 76 bears; harvested 20 and the inevitable misses totalled 10. Of the 20 bears taken, 50% were over 200 pounds, with the largest reaching 375 pounds.

Moosewa Outpost had 25 hunters and toot a total of 9 bears. All Jamie's guys saw lots of action at the Outpost and most have booked to return in 2006.

We are updating our website and urge you to visit it at www.ritchiefallsresort.com and have a look at the photo album to see some of this years successful hunters with their bears, along with some fishing tales. We will be adding a testimonial page and would welcome your comments on your experiences at our camps, and please include your email address so other may contact you.

There will be no change in the price for 2006 bear hunts and we will be offering a $70.00 discount for all those who book their 2006 hunt and forward the required deposits by January 2006. We encourage you to book early to take advantage of this offer and get the dates you want for your hunt.

As always we want to thank all those folks who return year after year, we appreciate your support.

We also met some new guests this year and some left memories with us that will last forever; Robert, his dad Aaron, and wife Kay; Ken and Theresa; Andrew; Kevin; the list is a long one with many new friends from Illinois along with John and his son Nick taking two nice bears with their bows.

With over 25 years in the outfitting business we have to admit that without guests and friends like those we have made over the years, the journey would not have been as memorable, Thank you.

Ivor and Brenda
