About Us

Ritchie Falls Resort is located deep within the Algoma Forest.

Our lodge is located at the foot of Ritchie Falls on the scenic River Aux Sauble in Northeastern Ontario Canada.

We are a full service resort in the heart of some of the finest hunting and fishing opportunities in Ontario. Ritchie Falls Resort boasts 80 kms of remote stream fishing for native brook trout with a very real prospect of hooking a trophy "speck" in the five pound range! Of course you will be kept busy, catching and releasing many smaller ones.

Lake trout fishing on Lac Aux Sauble located on our doorstep, is unsurpassed. Lakers in the 10 - 15 pound range are not uncommon, with plenty of smaller fish to satisfy your appetite at one of our many scenic shore lunch locations. Lac Aux Sauble boasts many bays, points, and mid lake humps and shoals to attract and hold the many lake trout that cruise the depths. Guided trips are available. Just ask.

For the "not so serious" fisherperson, Lac Aux Sauble has some of the most beautiful secluded sand beaches that you will find anywhere. Cruise the lake and find "your own" private beach to swim, picnic, or just sit and relax in the sunshine with a good book. With even less exertion, just sit and soak up the scenery with tall pine trees and fragrant spruce.

You will have the opportunity of watching bald eagles in flight, right above your head, with the possibility of the eagle or an osprey dropping out of the sky and snatching a meal from the lake, right in front of your eyes!

There are a myriad of other reasons to keep your camera and binoculars at the ready. Lac Aux Sabule is home to a very good population of wild life. There are daily sightings of a very healthy moose herd and, some of the densest bear population in north eastern Ontario. Also calling Lac Aux Sauble home are numerous beaver, lynx, wolf, otter, fox, fisher, pine martin, ruffed grouse, snowshoe hare and many, many song birds and a huge population of humming birds right on the deck of our lodge! Listen to the call of the loon and both red and flying squirrels!

Our lodge and water front cabins are situated in a remote, seculuded area of Ontario. The territory is conducive to many outdoor activities. A short 30 minute hike through the Boreal forest brings you to a canoe, beached on the shore of your very own private lake for an afternoon of catching and releasing as many feisty small mouth bass that your arms will allow. Or just a lazy paddle and marvel at the peace and tranquility of this special lake. In short, a wonderful place to create memories and further friendships.

For hiker, ATV or mountain bike enthusiasts, we have literally hundereds if not thousands of kilometers of trails and bush roads for you to explore. Along the way you will marvel at the cliffs of the La Clocke mountain range and the peaceful tranquility of a lakeside lunch stop.

For the canoe and kyack crowd, the River Aux Sauble begins in front of your cabin and continues downstream for over 80 kms! On the river you will pass through pristine forest, as the entire length of the River Aux Sauble is now a provincial park and no logging is permitted. Fly or spin fish for fabled, native brookies, possibly keeping a few for the frying pan. The taste will amaze you.

Your accomodation at Ritchie Falls will be in clean, comfortable, waterfront cabins, some with indoor facilities and the others sharing a central separate men's and ladie's shower house, with flush toilets. All are fully equipped for housekeeping with stove and fridge. Each cabin has electricity 24/7, barbeque and picnic table.

You may prepare your meal at your cabin or choose to join us at the lodge for our home cooked meals. Let us do the work and the clean up!

Ritchie Falls Resort is four season accessible. In the winter, carve your own snowmobile trail to that special lake for spectacular speck and huge lakers. Also some excellent splake fishing. After a day on the ice come and warm up in our sauna while reliving the day's adventure.

In spring, the fishing justs gets better. Bring your ATV, small boat and explore the "back" lakes for specks and lakers. After ice out the lakers are generally closer to the surface of the lake and long line trolling provides very exciting and productive fishing.

Summertime welcomes more great fishing, with fly fishermen trying to "match the hatch" on the river, while lake trout fishermen are trolling down deep for the big ones. Take a side trip to one of our small mouth or northern pike lakes for a real treat.

Summer at Ritchie Falls is also for the whole family, with swimming, canoes and a kayak, a paddle boat, all on your doorstep for you and your family to enjoy. We have an island slide in the water to keep you cool. A play house on shore, complete with swings and slide to keep our younger guests busy. The sauna is open year round. Try your hand at horseshoes or maybe "newfie golf". We also have a fishing dock for landlubbers to try to get in on the action. Then, later in the evening gather round the campfire to meet new friends or connect with old ones.

Guided river tours on a safe, comfortable boat and the chance to see bald eagles, osprey, beaver, black bear and moose, don't forget your camera! Tour can be arranged when you arrive at camp.

Beginning August 15 and for the next four weeks, Ritchie Falls Resort belongs to the bear hunters. With over 100 "active" bait sites, encompassed within almost 400 square kms of exclusive bear management area, we offer a quality, uncrowded opportunity for you to harvest a trophy animal. More on this package in the bear hunt section.

On the heels of the bear hunt comes some fantastic grouse hunting. Throughout our forest you will find many ruffed and spruce grouse.

Then, an early bow hunt only season for moose in wmu38. In a recent ministry of natural resouces area survey, wildlife management unit #38 is one of only a few with an increasing moose herd. Right after the bow season comes your opportunity to harvest a moose in the rifle season.

In closing, I would like to say that we will endeavor to treat our guests the way we like to be treated when we are on holidays. Please check out our web side periodically as we will be offering special packages for the upcoming seasons.

Come up and enjoy a piece of heaven on earth and the hospitality of the staff at Ritchie Falls Resort. You will be glad you did.
